Most households spend only about a fifth of their power inside TOU peak hours.
Share of monthly kWh consumed during TOU peak (weekdays, 2pm to 10pm). The peak window covers 24% of weekly hours, so usage at or below that line means households are already consuming proportionally less when electricity is expensive. The off-peak rate covers the rest.
Method
How this is computed. Each row is one household submitting one TNB bill. Test entries and any billing window outside 28 to 31 days are excluded. Households already on TOU are supported from v0.6.2 onwards and will appear in future datasets.. Savings are calculated using the same RP4 tariff formulas TNB publishes.
What "peak share" means. The percentage of a household's total monthly kWh that fell inside TOU peak hours (weekdays, 2pm to 10pm). If usage were spread evenly across all hours of the week, this number would be about 24%. Below that line, a household is effectively using less power when electricity is most expensive.
A note on the sample. The current sample is small and skews toward people who suspected TOU might help them. Read the headline rate as a directional signal, not a population-level claim. The distribution of peak share is the steadier observation.
